"Olympic Leny 068" is a chequer hen bred by Leo van Rijn of De Lier, and her value sits squarely on her dam. She is a direct daughter of "Olympic Leny 301" (NL 18-1798301), who as a young bird in 2018 won four 1st prizes, including 1st from 2,264 birds, and is recorded on the card as the 5th best Olympiad young bird of Holland 2018. Her sire, "Felle Royal 291", is a son of the long-distance hen "Royal Lady 541", 4th NPO Bourges from 5,097 birds.
The Dam — NL 18-1798301 "Olympic Leny 301"
Four times 1st as a young bird · 5th best Olympiad young bird Holland 2018 · Leo van Rijn × Willem de Bruin
301 is the reason this hen exists. Raced as a young bird in 2018, she won 1st from 2,264 birds, 1st Menen (231 birds), 1st Fontenay (170 birds) and 1st St-Maxent (215 birds), then backed it up in the big fields: 2nd Menen from 2,940 birds, 2nd Peronne from 2,667 birds, 4th St-Maxent from 5,491 birds, 5th Fontenay from 1,260 birds, 5th Peronne from 1,561 birds and 13th St-Maxent from 3,446 birds. Her nest brother 302 won that same Peronne race, 1st from 2,667 birds, clocking one second ahead of her — two birds out of one nest taking the first two places.
She is a cross between Leo van Rijn's own Hattrick family and the lofts of Willem de Bruin, and the breeder named her after his late wife. In his words on the card: "to honour Leny, because 301 is a crack like my wife Leny was."
The Sire — NL 14-1867291 "Felle Royal 291"
11 prizes in 2016 · son of "Royal Lady 541"
A light chequer cock, raced in 2016 to 11 prizes, including a 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th. The card describes him as a late-summer youngster of 2014 from "all big winner lines of Leo van Rijn" — the Meuleman/Hattrick line on his sire's side crossed with the best of the 019 and Merckx Janssen lines. His real weight in this pedigree comes through his dam, "Royal Lady 541", whose record is set out below.
foot note from the seller below.
These pigeons are on auction as my partner has health issues and I have work commitments. These 6 lots would definitely not be up for sale otherwise! Four of these lots are directly from Leo’s loft just before they were all sold to china. They have all bred winners up to federation level!
