St Philbert OB2 National 1 st OPEN 1 st SECTION J John & Theresa Gladwin & Jarvis of Leigh On Sea This weekend saw a first in pigeon racing The UK Masters Race. The BBC, BICC, CSCFC & NFC for the first time in their history held a combined race from St Philbert Du Peuple on Saturday 2 nd July. All organisation’s will be publishing their own separate race result but to make it more exciting a UK Masters result will be published too. On board the 3 transporters which made their way to St Philbert was 5,475 birds. This race allowed members to cross nominate from one club to another which meant potentially they could be entered in four races within the four Clubs. The BBC entry was 1,297 birds from 92 members (1249 birds duplicated from the NFC & BICC). I have been asked by many people to say a big thank you to everyone involved at the marking stations for the non stop work you all did putting the birds through, also the many fanciers who brought up van load of birds to the different marking stations. Without you all I don’t know where we would be, but you are a credit to the pigeon world. We thank you. Liberation: The NFC, BICC, CSCFC & BBC convoy was liberated at 07:30. The birds cleared the site immediately in a northerly direction under blue skies. Weather on route almost clear blue skies all the way to the channel. The channel is clear and visibility 11 miles plus. Weather over England shows a weak weather front moving across the country from west to east carrying some light patchy rain which is fizzling out as it does so. Winds mainly light S/W over the complete flight path. Steve Appleby. John & Theresa Sophie Boy Congratulations to John & Theresa Gladwin & Jarvis of Leigh On Sea winning 1 st OPEN 1 st SECTION J. FIRSTLY I would like to say a very big thank you to yourself and everyone else that has worked so hard to get channel racing back on. I am sure I speak for everyone who sent when I say a heart felt thank you to everyone. My first pigeon is a yearling Frans Zwols cock he is bred from two pigeons I bred for stock in 2019. The sire is a son of the super D'artagain. D'Artagain is now sire, G.sire of many big winners including 3x1 st OPEN NFC, 1 st OPEN BICC and now 1 st OPEN BBC WHICH MUST MAKE HIM A PRETTY UNIQUE BREEDER TO BE G.SIRE TO NATIONAL WINNERS IN ALL 3 MAJOR U.K national clubs. In total he is responsible for 10x1 st National, Combine, Amal winners including 2 at over 500 miles. and 1 st 19,476 birds in Holland. The dam of our winner was bred in late 2019 after we won the BICC Agen race with Tip Top Tora, I decided to put her parents back together and have a pair of late breds from them. The dam is one of these and was not paired until 2021 breeding our winner in her first year. Our winner is now called Sophie Boy after my youngest daughter. well done to everyone who sent and got pigeons, I hope everyone felt as I did with a real buzz just getting ready and waiting for the lib and then waiting for the birds to arrive. 2 nd OPEN 2 nd SECTION J DAVE & GARY HEYWOOD OF BASILDON. As some of you know this is my last season in the sport, Thurso/Poitiers on July the 16th are the final 2 races of my career, after some serious issues in my personal life I unfortunately will be leaving this wonderful sport of ours we all love dearly, all birds to be auctioned by Les Green & John Crehan more details to follow after the season, but first there’s Thurso & Poitiers to focus on, good luck all, for everyone who’s called & text thank you it’s much appreciated, yours in Sport, Team Ede. My pair are hens that I allowed to pair to other hens for this race and I slipped a young bird under them just before basketing. My first bird I call Bobbie’s Girl because I said he could have it after this race as she is the only middle distance one in the loft bred by David Parker of Clitheroe, Lancs when I wanted a bit of fun. She has won many top prizes, her last being 28 th OPEN NFC TWO WEEKS AGO. THE SAME FOR THE MEALY, WON MANY PRIZES ALL ANDY PARSONS lines that are serving me, so well over the years one for the future. That’s all for now, roll on Pau and best wishes to you all have fun and enjoy the sport. Frank Quinn 1 st Section E Chambers Family of Cannock. Our first arrival from the St Philbert National is a yearling hen now called Heart Breaker owing to the fact that when she arrived she lost so much time at the loft that I was certain she had ruined her chance of topping the section, fortunately despite the time wasted she still managed to hold on and take 1 st SECTION E BBC, 1 st NW section BICC and 1 st SECTION J NFC. SHE IS BRED THROUGH OUR VERY SUCCESSFUL Lambrecht family with her sire being a full brother Blue Lightning 10 th , 15 th , 34 th & 44 th OPEN NATIONAL UP TO 9,679B, also full brother to Big Girl winner of 7 th OPEN MNFC VIRE 6,344B AND ALSO HALF BROTHER TO COUTANCES QUEEN OUR 1 st SECTION 1 st OPEN BBC COUTANCES WINNER FROM 2020. This weekend has been the stuff of dreams for me and my family and I would like to thank all organisations and individuals involved for their forward thinking, hard work and dedication in resuming racing from France. WELL DONE TO DARREN EDE WHO IS FLYING AN EXCEPTIONAL pigeon at the moment and all the section winners. My pigeon is a 3 year old cock bred from a son of Premier Stud’s Mano-O-Chester when paired to a hen bred by GWP Macaloney from Camelot x Blue Caviar. My bird has been a steady performer and always looks fresh when returning and was previously 5 th SECTION NFC Guernsey 2 weeks ago. It wasn’t an easy race for flyers on the westerly side this time with most birds coming out of the north east. I ended up with 13 ex 20. Well done to all of the people that got the birds to the race especially with all the paperwork involved. Mark Gower 2 nd Section E Dean Jones of Boston. The pigeon is a 4 year old cock 3/4 Padfield’s 1/4 Jelle Jellema cross.
