JOURNEY’S END – NIPA RACE REPORTS – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G

‘DICKEY’S DREAM’ COME TRUE FROM FERMOY

 In this report I will be covering the Fermoy & Fermoy 5 Bird Championship. This is the annual 5 Bird limit nomination race held within the Fermoy race. A total of 375 NIPA Members sent 7,326 Birds to Fermoy in County Cork with 187 NIPA members nominating 885 birds in the Fermoy 5 Bird Championship. Friday morning the 5th of June the birds were liberated at 08:30hrs in a Southerly Wind.

The winning bird from both Fermoy & Fermoy 5 bird championship belongs to Geoffrey Dickey of West End HPS in Section C.

An incredible weekend to remember for Geoffrey not only topping the NIPA from Fermoy but to pick out his fancied bird for the 5 Bird limit Fermoy 5 Bird Championship therefore winning both races, a super achievement.

Geoffrey Dickey 1st Open NIPA Fermoy & Fermoy 5Bird Championship Open Winner

The Double 1st Open winning pigeon has been named ‘Dickey’s Dream’ and clocked the winning velocity of 1998.635YPM. ‘Dickey’s Dream’ GB25 C 11447 was sent to Fermoy 5bird as one of their fancied birds, she had been very consistent this year racing roundabout taking prizes along the way including 1st club 3rd Ulster Fed from the Horse n Jockey. They paired her up and sent her sitting 6 days. Her breeding is Rudy Van Reeth, her Sire bred 1st Section, 6th Open Fermoy 5bird and 1st Section, 13th Open Fermoy. Geoffrey would like to thank everyone for their calls texts etc and a big thanks to his wife Linda and good friend Bobby Coyle for all their support.

The Winner of Section D (47/1,015) from Fermoy was P&J Boal of Dromore HPS. Philip has been having a great season adding to it this week winning 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Club (230 Birds) taking that performance into the Section D prizes Winning 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Section D (1,015 Birds) and in the overall NIPA Open achieved 12th , 13th, 14th & 15th plus more (7,326 Birds) The Section winner is a blue cheq hen GB20 D 21163. She is a very consistent racing hen, winning a number of top section and open positions over her six years racing. 4x1st prizes from 100-300 miles. 100% Willy Van Herck. Her mother was ‘Classic Connection’ winner of 1st open Penzance, and her grandmother was a super hen ‘Nishi’ several top open and also a section winner, 2nd national, 7th national plus many more.

This cock has previously been 3rd NS INFC Skibbereen.
