GB-22-B85588 B Ch P Hen OBERHOLSTER Four 1st International Barcelona winners within three generations, with Mark Gilbert's 1st National St Vincent hen on the dam's side
GB-22-B85588 is bred from two Barcelona families stacked on top of each other. Within three generations sit four 1st International Barcelona winners — Jef, Special One, Kleine Jade and New Laureaat — together with Mark Gilbert's Southfield Dark Star, 1st National St Vincent. Bred by Pieter Oberholster at Keysoe, the pedigree is built for the extreme distance from top to bottom.
The Sire — NL-19-3950264 "Son Jef"
Direct son of Jef, 1st International Barcelona 2019 · out of a daughter of two Barcelona International winners
The sire is a direct son of Jef (BE-16-2051063), winner of 1st International Barcelona 2019 against 16,051 birds. That alone would make him worth breeding from, but his dam doubles the Barcelona content: she is NL-18-1084809 "Dtr Special One", a daughter of Special One (FR-12-034553), 1st International Barcelona 2015 against 19,083 birds, and Kleine Jade (NL-11-1292679), 1st International Barcelona 2014 against 20,669 birds.
Put simply, his father and both of his maternal grandparents each won the biggest race in the international calendar. Very few cocks in Britain carry three International Barcelona winners that close up.
The Dam — GB-19-E46069 "Dtr Dark Star"
Daughter of Southfield Dark Star, 1st National St Vincent · granddaughter of New Laureaat
The dam brings proven British long-distance performance alongside more Barcelona blood. Her dam is Southfield Dark Star (GB-14-J06118), bred by Mark Gilbert and winner of 1st National St Vincent — a hen who won at national level in the UK rather than one bought in on reputation.
Her sire is NL-14-1040577 "Son New Laureaat", a direct son of New Laureaat (BE-08-2222675), 1st International Barcelona 2013 against 25,382 birds, and BE-08-4270165 "Dtr Sampras Laureaat", dam of Nathan, 15th International Barcelona 2015. Son New Laureaat has already proved he passes it on: the card records him as sire of the 1st National Poitiers 2018 winner.
Fantastic distance D N A !!
