Saturday June 20th saw 63 members from 8 clubs send 1039 birds for the third visit to Frome in Somerset this season. After early morning rain, Alys cut the strings at 10-20 and the birds were away in a Light SW wind.
After a barren spell in the fed lasting 3 weeks, Mark Nesbitt was back with a bang taking the top five spots on 1625.2; 1625; 1624; 1623.4(2) well done Mark; you did say on the Friday night “See what tomorrow brings”; and I thought yes, he’s had a word with them?
The fed topper was the yearling white grizzle hen; she was runner up in the 2025 Fed futurity race. Her sire is out of a son of Adam Wealthall’s top Lambrecht “Grizzly Bear” when paired to a daughter of the champion Hereman hen “Isla”, she’s a previous winner of 2nd MNFC and 1st P&D Stud Gold Ring race; her dam is a Gust Janssen.

South Derbyshire birds filled the rest of the top ten; Neil Harvey’s top two at Swadlincote Town were 6th & 7th fed on 1621; 1620; his first a yearling blue hen; her sire is a half brother to Mark Williamson’s “Lady B” who won the MNFC Bordeaux race in 2018. The sire of “Lady B” was a cock off Jos Reilly of Ireland, which was a grandson of Jan Hooyman’s “Harry”. The dam of “Lady B” was the Gaby Vandenabeele “Butler’s Girl”; she was a nest sister to “Butler’s Son”. The dam of Neil’s hen was an inbred Stefaan Lambrecht off James Parker of Reading; based around the “"Vooruitvlieger". She was closely followed by another yearling blue hen; her sire is from M & D Evans; the dam from Mark Williamson “Harry” line.

At Chaddesden Jubilee in Derby; 14 sent 179 and Alan & Liz Houldsworth were 1st & 2nd club on 1597; 1596; both bred by Kev Matthews of Holbrook. The winner was a yearling blue hen; her sire is a grandson of the Jos Cools “Super Cools Lady”; her dam is a Freddie Vandenaheede x Jos Cools. She was followed by a 2yo blue wf hen; same way bred as Alan’s fed topper out of Exeter. She’s out of the Premier Stud Hereman Cuesters; sire a grandson of “Den Euro”; her dam a granddaughter of “Better than Bolt”.

At Etwall, 6 sent 97 and Kev Southall got the winner on 1538 with a well fancied yearling cheq cock bred by R & D Hunt.

A good performance by the 3yo blue M & D Evans Vandenabeele hen of M/M L Clamp & Sons, she took 1st club on1330; this follows on her 2nd Insigne sur Mer this season; great effort that.
Mr & Mrs Lee Clamp & Sons were also 2nd & 4th on 1319; 1127; first a 4yo blue hen; she’s half sister to the winner; and then a 3yo blue hen; she’s full sister to the winner; and she won Fougeres, taking 4th section 48th open MNFC
