BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.
Kev Matthews of Holbrook takes top five out of Marlborough (2).
Saturday August 8th saw 36 members from 5 clubs enter birds for the second visit to the Wiltshire town of Marlborough. Birdage still down as members getting their young birds back into top condition after the bout of Young bird sickness that hit our area.
Alys cut the strings at 08-25 into a light SE wind, the weather again was perfect, blue skies, wispy white clouds, and a gentle warm wind.
Congratulations to Kev Mathew of Holbrook, he had five arrive together to top the fed sheet, brilliant performance Kev.

Kev Matthews of Holbrook 1st fed Marlborough
The fed topper on 1695.5 was a blue Jos Cools cock “Cools Power”; both parents bred by Andrew Wilton. His sire is a son of “Golden Cools1” who’s a brother to “Super Cools Lady”. The dam is off a son of “Cher Ami” when paired to a daughter of “Super Cools Lady” x The “Rossi” cock. Just before racing started, after one of the heat waves; Kev let his young birds out and when they came back 2 had leg injuries and 3 were missing, Kev thinks they hit the power lines nearby to his lofts?

Next morning this cock “Cools Power” returned, Kev picked him up outside the loft and blood started spurting out from his mouth, Kev had never seen this before, there were no other signs of injury, so Kev wondered if it was some kind of electric shock?
Kevin rested him up back to good health, well the rest obviously did him good and Kev was over the moon when he realized he was first over the pad, just shows, patience and TLC can pay off?
Runner up on 1695.0 was another blue Jos Cools cock off Andrew Wilton stock. Sire a grandson of “Primus” and his dam a granddaughter of ”Super Lady”.
