Davis, Wright & Sons take 1st Fed out of Cheltenham (2).
Saturday July 25th saw 45 members from 6 clubs enter 1057 birds for the second consecutive visit to the Gloucestershire town of Cheltenham.
Once again the weather was nigh on perfect, with the fresh Westerly wind the only downside, I’m sure the birds would have preferred it a bit lighter? Alys cut the strings at 09-05 and we expected the leaders to hit around the 55mph mark?
Once again it was far from straight forward for the birds, yes the leaders made the time expected, but there were plenty of birds missing Saturday at clocks, with not too many making it home on the Sunday.
I presumed the later birds had just gone up the east side and gone whizzing past, but not too many came back out the north, in fact a lot of late birds were coming out of the south?
Back to the race and congratulation’s to the Swadlincote Town lofts of Davis, Wright & Sons on taking top spot on 1643 with a blue pied hen; her sire is “Indenti”; he is a fed topping son out of “Nugget” who is a son of “Super 147” of the Gordon Bros; when paired to their number 1 Staf Van Reet hen; she topped the fed out of Kingsdown and is dam and grand dam to 6 x 1st fed winners. The dam of the fed topper is a daughter off “King of the Rode” x Debbie Fearn’s good Stefaan Lambrecht hen.

They were also 5th fed on 1639.8 with a Blue pied cock; his sire off “King of the Rode” x Debbie Fearn’s good Stefaan Lambrecht hen; and his dam is off “Indenti” x “Golden Eggs” the top Wijnant hen.
Rob Pearson of Holbrook, who the previous week took the top 20 in the fed, once again had his team in top form taking 2nd; 3rd; 4th; 6th; 7th; 8th; and 10th fed. Runner up on 1642 was a cheq Lambrecht hen bred by Kevin Lawson of New Ollerton, the parents of this bird responsible for 3 x 1st fed and winning £1400 in a futurity race.

4th fed on 1640.4 was a blue Hereman x Lambrecht hen, her sire has bred 3 x 2nd fed; her dam out of the “Champion Moorke” lines, bred by Kev Lawson.
6th fed on 1639.4 was the cheq hen that was 2nd fed the week previous, bred by Alan Dungworth of Mexborough Rotherham from Dave Thrall of Yorkshire via Excelsior lofts; a blend of Hereman Cuester from Curtis, Wall & Lunt; Brian Johnson; Premier Stud; then out crossed with the Mark Jansenne, Raf Claes and “Pink Eyes”.
7th fed on 1639.1was a Dark cheq Lambrecht x Hereman bred by Kev Lawson out of “Champion Moorke “line.
8th fed on 1638.5 was a cheq pied Lambrecht x Hereman hen; bred by Kev Lawson out of fed winners.
M Stone was 9th fed on 1638.2; Glyn timing in a blue Hereman Cuester x cock, the dam a winner of 3 x 1st for John Bellerby of Lincolnshire

R Pearson was back again for 10th fed on1638.1 with a blue hen; bred by David & Emma Armstrong of Highfields lofts in Lancashire.
Around the clubs,
At Stretton; 9 sent 200 and Pete Cox got a good winner on the west side of the town, Pete timed in a cheq Hereman hen on 1601; her sire out of the “Wildwind” line and her dam out the “Rossi” lines.

Jack Bourke was 2nd & 4th on 1591.9; 1574; the first home a Blue wf hen; her sire a Kris Wijnant from Davis, Wright & Sons; he was bred by the Gordon Bros out of their top pairing “Champ” x “Golden Eggs”; the dam is out of the “Pitbull” blood from Adam & Mick O’Hara of Liverpool. She was followed by a mealy cock, again bred by the Gordon Bros of Portaferry in Northern Ireland.
Phil Bourke was 3rd on 1591.2 with a cheq cock bred by Mark Evans Denbighshire; his sire a Hereman Cuester out the “Jackpot” line from Central lofts, his dam an A & B Leideman from Mark Walker out the “Pizarro” line.

Up at Holbrook, 8 sent 318 and details of the top eight appear above in the fed report.
At Swadlincote Town, 6 sent 161 and Davis, Wright & Sons took the top four positions. Details of their first two arrivals appear in the fed report above. Third over the pad was a Dark Cheq cock on 1635.9 bred by Chris Parker; he’s a full brother to the hen that picked up out of MNFC Chale and was 6th in the Fed Futurity race last year. 4th spot on 1631 was a blue hen; her sire is a multiple prize winning Staf Van Reet x A & L Painter’s “Kev’s Boy”; her dam another multiple prize winner; she’s off a son of “31616” x Staf Van Reet.
Into Derby now, at Chaddesden Jubilee; 15sent 285 and Dave Waddington took the top two on 1621; 1620; with a dark cheq cock and a dark cheq hen; both out of Alan Brassington x “The Bat” blood lines. The Shenton Brothers were 3rd on 1597 with a cheq cock off Dave Stone; and Alan & Liz Houldsworth were 4th on 1577 with a home bred Dark cheq hen.

At Winshill, 3 sent 33 and Debbie Fearn took the top three, the winner on 1615 was a blue wf hen; her sire a breeder buyer from Davis, Wright & Sons out of their SVR x “31616” stock. Her dam is a Gert Rondag from A & L Painter. Runner up on 1607 was a Lavender wf hen; her sire is out of a grandson of “Hideaway” x Kris Wijnant; her dam is a granddaughter of “Hideaway”. 3rd on 1583 was a 1583 blue wf hen; her sire is a Stefaan Lambrecht and her dam is a daughter out of “Tiger” x “Broke wing” line.

Finally, At Etwall, 4 sent 60 and Alan peach took the top three on 1560.9; 1560.2; 1530; the winner off a Kev Southall x Roland Jansenne pairing. Runner up was bred by Russ Bailey and 3rd was out of a pair from the Who Dares Wins loft auction.
