Phil Bourke of Stretton excels out of a fast Yeovil race.
Saturday August 29th should have seen our birds at Yeovil in Somerset, but due to a ridge of low pressure and thundery heavy rain, the fed put racing back 24 hours to Sunday August 30th. Some organisations went even further, cancelling the whole weekend and raced on the Bank Holiday Monday.
44 members from 7 clubs entered 491 birds which were liberated at 11-50 by Alys in a S.S.W. wind. Alys had to be patient with heavy cloud; then rain; in and around Yeovil, but her patience paid off as the birds romped home on a pleasant early Sunday afternoon.

The fed topper on 1967 was a blue cock; his sire off a full brother of M/M Lycett’s champion “Eddy”, his dam a Central Lofts “Kittel”; his nest mate won Cheltenham (1).This young cock is a full brother to the nest sisters 31 & 32 who 1st and 2nd were fed Honiton as yb’s in 2023.
Runner up on 1966 was a cheq cock bred by the Gordon Bros of Portaferry, he was 4th club the week previous, he’s a son of The Flanders Collection “Kitano” x Daughter of “Kitan”; she’s half sister to the famous “006”.
4th fed on 1953 was the cheq cock that won Bath; he’s out of “Well’ard” the Leo Hereman x Dtr of “Lateman” the best of the Gordon Bros.
7th fed on1948 was a cheq hen bred by Mark Evans of Denbighshire; she was 2nd club Marlborough (1). Her sire a Willy Jacobs from Gerald Delaney of Ireland out of “Home Alone” a winner of 1st sec 3rd open and “Golden Lady “1st open Gold ring and dam of 3 x open winners. Dam from Central lofts a double granddaughter of “Sunny”.
8th fed on 1944 was a blue; hen she’s a daughter of “Jude” the Hereman x Vandenabeele cock who was a winner of 4 x 1st’s; he was a son of M/M Lycett’s “Well’ard x “Relentless”; her dam is a daughter of “Bob de Batt” the top M & D Evans Vandenabeele, the last direct son off “Shadow”.
9th fed on 1924 was a cheq cock bred by the Gordon Bros, his sire a son of “Kitano” his dam a daughter of “The Guarantee” who’s half brother to Dirk van den Bulk’s “The Flying Dutchman”. “The Guarantee” is out of “Donkere Olympiade” x “Golden Red Kittel” (sister of “Kittel”).
10th fed on 1920 was a cheq cock, his sire another son of “Well’ard x Relentless”, his dam a daughter of”Mo” their top racer now at stock. Well done Phil, top flying.
3rd fed on 1964 was Jack Bourke, he timed in his good Blue pied Wijnant x Pitbull Hen, her sire a Kris Wijnant; a son of the Gordon Bros “Champ” x “Golden Eggs” from Davis, Wright & Sons. Her dam is from the “Pitbull” line from Adam & Mick O’Hara of Liverpool. She topped the fed from Marlborough (1); won Marlborough (2) and was 2nd Cheltenham (2), you’ve got a good hen there Jack lad.
Staying at Stretton to complete a top ten sweep for the club, and club Chairman Phil Whetton took 5th & 6th fed on 1951; 1950; first over the pad a Slatey Van den Bulk x Hereman hen, her sire from the Fenech Bros and her dam off Kev Southall via the Jackpot Lofts.

M Stone was 2nd; 3rd and 4th on 1903.3; 1903.1; 1902.6, Glyn and Glenda timing in two from their P & D Stud stock; followed by one off Glyns best racing hen this year, she’s off the best of Simon Parkinson’s National winning lines and Trevor Jennings best Cooreman hen; she topped the fed out of Marlborough this year to add to numerous other prizes.
At Chaddesden Jubilee, 9 sent 81 and John & Steve Hicks filled the podium taking the first three with their Jansennes on 1909; 1908.7; 1908.2; two cheq hens followed by a blue cock.

Mick Stone was 4th on 1896 with a mealy Van den Bulk cock.
At Swadlincote Town, 8 sent 96 and B.Collins & Son took top spot on 1906; Mark timing in a blue hen bred by Kev Matthews and won by Mark in the club raffle after Kev donated it to the club at their presentation night.

Davis, Wright & Sons were runners up on 1890 with a Mealy cock, his sire “Kittel 82” from Central Lofts, his dam from Tony & Lee Painter.
Debbie Fearn was 3rd on 1829 with a blue cock bred by Chris Parker from a Woodroffe Bros x R & B Smith pairing, his sister picked up money in the Fed futurity and MNFC Chale races last year for Davis, Wright & Sons.
M/M Lee Clamp & Sons were 4th on 1813 with a cheq hen.
At Etwall, 6 sent 40 and Kev Southall took the top four on 1782.4; 1782.2; 1782.2 and 1772.The winner and 4th club were nest mates off Dave Stone blood lines; runner up one from Kev Matthews and 3rd club was the Leo Hereman x Tony & Lee Painter cock that won the two previous races out of Bath and Frome.
