Lanarkshire News - Wooler 2. Another amazing result for team Macaloney

This week again the race controllers had a very difficult job with an ever changing weather forecast that you couldn’t follow in the snow.

The decision was for a Friday race and just under 2,000 birds were away at 0700hrs from Wooler in a south west wind, that at the home end was very much west.

This week’s winner hit the boards after 1 hr 41 minutes for the 78 miles to the brilliant Paul Macaloney who takes 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,9th,10th,11th12th,47th, 49th,96th Open federation from 1,951 birds.

1st Open federation wooler 2

21 birds sent 21 home.

A class fancier with brilliant system and the birds bred for the job.

2nd Open federation

On the back of 1st,2nd,3rd Open last week and Paul feeling it wasn't a good team performance he certainly put it right this week!

This is the standard of Champions and that what he and his pigeons are without any doubt.

Paul stated it takes total dedication and sacrifice to race and school young pigeons.

You will lose pigeons

You will wonder why you do it

You will ask why we aren't on holiday

We don't need this stress.

The winner is a blue hen who beat the pack over the line at the home end and is bred out of "Miss Golden Blizzard" lines that are setting new records.

Well done to Paul and Charlene on another brilliant result and  who are just miles ahead of the pack!

Paul & Charlene Macaloney

Other top performance came from HBW Lofts of the Glasgow RPA club who take the first 15 positions in the Glasgow section. Well done lads brilliant performance.

Their winner remarkable is the same pigeon that was 1st section last week ,you don’t get many like this one!

HBW Lofts of Glasgow RPA are this week’s winners with a darkness cock that was raced on widowhood, the parents were purchased from Derek Whelpton from Adam Weathalls C& C Lambrechts lines. The pedigree includes Champion Snowball and Champion Olivia.

Derek recommended we paired them together as in his own words his Golden Pair and had bred countless winners at federation /amalgamation and breeder/Buyers .The G/children of these are still topping federation in England.

2nd section is from a son of Wee Paddy x G/daughter of Sagan the best of Patrick Boeckx blood lines. Wee Paddy bred 1st Ace UK Pinnacle games award YBs 2025 and special recognition award for B McCrindle & Son.

Congratulations to all section winners and to Paul & Charlene Macaloney on winning 1st Open federation.

Dave Love winners in Clarkston club 1st & 3rd are from a kit of six purchased from Elimar web site,2nd is a Macaloney lines.

Davie Love makes it two in a row in Clarkston club

Special mention to Robert Armour who has recently joined the sport and has made it two out of two in the competitive Coatbridge SC. Well done to Robert and Linda great flying.

Also shout out to Steven and Jim Wood who joined the sport for their first YB season, taking the top spots in the Airdrie club.

Unfortunately a lot of fanciers are finished for the season and even more don't even bother racing their YBs due to the losses. It’s really sad when you look back and remember the baskets full for the first races and the excitement of racing. We need to look at the time to race out with the hunting season of birds of prey with their young in the Sky.
