DINNER & AWARD PRESENTATION 2022 We could not have wished for better weather over the weekend of the British Barcelona Club’s Presentation between 18 th – 20 th November. Bournemouth was basking in sunshine and warmer temperatures during daylight hours allowing everyone to take long walks along t DINNER & AWARD PRESENTATION 2022 We could not have wished for better weather over the weekend of the British Barcelona Club’s Presentation between 18 th – 20 th November. Bournemouth was basking in sunshine and warmer temperatures during daylight hours allowing everyone to take long walks along the beach and through the parks and town. Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Robbie Hooper (it was nice to see Robbie back as only a month before he had Covid) who carried his duties off well announcing our prize winners. President Jill Rogers gave her address to the room and finished by saying how enjoyable it will be to return to a full programme of continental racing in 2023. We began the 2022 season in May with the first race from Guernsey with Dennis Baker of Maidenhead winning the race and taking 8 positions out of the top 13. Dennis also went on to win our first French race of the year from St Philbert in June scooping the first 5 positions in the Section and again dominating the OPEN POSITIONS AS WELL. At the end of May we visited both Wakefield and Guernsey on the same weekend, Andy Hitchcock of Windsor taking 1 st OPEN WAKEFIELD AND RICKY TURNER OF AYLESBURY 1 st OPEN GUERNSEY 2. NOW IN TO JUNE and we were racing from Hexham, Perth and Lerwick with Kerry Mellonby, Stuart Knowles and Colin Simpkin of Bridlington taking the top spot from the three races. The combined UK Masters Race from St Philbert on 2 nd July had John and Theresa Gladwin & Jarvis of Leigh on Sea winning 1 st OPEN BBC. THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND WE WERE ACROSS THE CHANNEL INTO SPAIN where Steve and Sally Rhodes of Aylesham were 1 st OPEN BARCELONA. THE WEEKEND OF 16 th July was another two race weekend with Tony Barrett of Portsmouth winning Poitiers and Kerry Mellonby, Stuart Knowles and Colin Simpkin of Bridlington winning Thurso. Concluding the old bird season was the Tarbes race with Dave and John Staddon of Ditcheat winning the race and clocking in for fun along with Kevin and John Zerafa of Portsmouth. The two sets of Young Bird/ Any Age Old Bird races from Ilkeston and Guernsey were won by Terry Haley of Abbots Langley the Ilkeston AA race, Kerry Mellonby, Stuart Knowles and Colin Simpkin of Bridlington the Ilkeston YB, Dave and Lisa Waterhouse of Bedhampton Guernsey YB and Buddy Shipp of Bedhampton Guernsey AA. A massive thank you to Terry Peart for taking the photographs, a wonderful job accomplished. Once the last award had been presented the dancing began with a short interim break at 10pm for the raffle. Finally, thank you to Anne Hooper and Jane Cable for all your help with the trophies and flowers.
