Young Bird Winners AA Old Bird Winn er Dave & Lisa Waterhouse Buddy Shipp of Bedhampton o f Bedhampton

The 2022 racing season is now wrapped up with our final Young Bird Any Age Old Bird race from Guernsey. Chris and Clive would like to thank everyone in Guernsey for their lovely hospitality and also for feeding, watering and looking after them over the weekend.

Roger Hurst – Race Advisor: Birds liberated at 7.50am in to a light NE wind, clearing well. (Shipping forecast –

variable 2-4 becoming later E-NE 3-5, good visibility with sea conditions slight or smooth).

To everyone involved at all the marking stations, you have been amazing this year keeping everyone racing whatever road they were racing on and we appreciate how tough at times marking was. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Thank you also to Roger Hurst and Clive Merrills who shared the race advising for the BBC and CSCFC and finally to our convoyers who have taken so much care with our birds.

Thank you to all our members who have supported us this year, we wish you good health until next season.

Congratulations to our race winners Dave & Lisa Waterhouse & Buddy Shipp.

My little hen is bred down from the Gripel lines crossed Lambrecht she's been raced every week so very happy with her.

Our first 3 birds hitting the trap are all Frans Zwols pigeons mainly Formula 1 lines, shortly after this we had another

1 st Section G Clive Turner (D Turner) of Caple. We were very pleased to see our first young bird drop with in 2

minutes of our predicted time for a bird flying 150 miles against the wind sending 35 and returning 30 on the day is

an indication of how well the BBC take care of our birds and give them every opportunity to return home.

Our 2 nd section G AA has been a very consistent hen for us her sire being Andy Parsons pigeon bought at an Epsom sale mated to a hen from Tony Cowan full of the Bert Shepherd blood lines. Clive and Tony have struck up a really close friendship in recent years, two good old boys with years of experience.

It’s keep it in the family as the dam of the 1 st

Guernsey the previous week.

1 st Section E Dave & Kyle Harris of Newport. Our first bird being held by Dave on the left is through the bloodlines of I & D Maddison of Hartlepool and our own family of the old Evans & Walker Soontjens, she was bred mid January and as with all the first round has been on natural daylight from the time of weaning, the stock loft has the lights on for eighteen hours a day so upon weaning they the young birds go onto a natural form of darkness, she was in good feather and had only dropped three flights. She has had four club races up to one hundred and fifty miles with The Bell (Tong) FC in the Gloucester Federation and had been improving week on week after a slow start.

Our second bird being held by Kyle on the right is again from our old Soontjen family, the father is only a three year old and bred for stock, he has bred one hen that has had three firsts and two other birds that have also won, her mother is a daughter of a bird we named The Blind Buy Hen, she was purchased at Blackpool in 2020 being a daughter of "Stobbs Star", what a hen she has been since being introduced, it looks like her daughter is about to follow suit.

Well done to all the section and open winners, We had five of our eight entrants at the time of writing, a hard days flying that kept the birds honest all the way.

Thank you to all the officers and officials in keeping our sport going in what has been another challenging year.

Dave & Kyle Harris

2 nd Section G Alasdair Muir of Abinger Hammer. Her dam has a first and fifth Solent Fed as a young bird last year and her sire has bred Fed Winners.

She is from my old distance family crossed with sprint lines from Tony Summers of Sunderland.

1 st Section B Danny Lanahan & John Gerard of Poole. The youngster we are first with was bred from our Joseph pigeons. It was a good weekends racing with a good part of the team back on the night.

We would like to say thank you to all the fanciers which have helped with collecting pigeons that had lost their way last week in the strong SW winds and thanks to the non fanciers for spending the time to report them.
