JOURNEY’S END – NIPA RACE REPORTS – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G
‘MAMBO MAN’ INDUCTED INTO THE NIPA HISTORY BOOKS
We move into the final proceedings of the old bird season with this week being the last inland race of the season with the French Old Bird National finale next week. In this report is the last old bird inland race from County Tipperary. A total of 256 NIPA Members sent 3,922 Birds to Cloughmartin for the final inland race of the NIPA Old Bird Season. Saturday morning the 20th of June the birds were liberated at 09:00hrs in a Light West Wind.
The Winning Bird from the final Old Bird Inland Race of the 2026 NIPA Season belongs to Owen Markey of Ballyholland HPS in Section G.
Owen has finished the Old Bird Season exactly the same as he started with a NIPA 1st Open Win. But what is even more mind blowing is that it’s the exact same pigeon that won 1st Open NIPA Kilbeggan at the start of the season from 10,769 Birds. ‘Mambo Man’. He clocked the winning velocity of 1655.257YPM. GB24 A 66779 ‘Mambo Man’ is now a 3x1st Open NIPA equivalent having been beaten over the trap by ‘Born Identity’ into 2nd Open 12,968. Winner of 1st Open NIPA 10,769. 1st Open NIPA 3,992, 2nd Open NIPA 12,968, 20th Open NIPA 885 (5B), 46th North Section INFC, 69th Open NIPA 7,149. Nestmate to "Mambo Zot" Best Single Bird Performance 0-250 RPRA Irish Region Award Winner 2025, 1st Open NIPA Dunmanway Yearling National 2,210 2025. 1. Open NIPA 2,210, 12. Open NIPA 21,660, 44. Open NIPA 5,720, 50. Open NIPA 23,289. They are both grandchildren of the phenomenal "511 Het Elfje" of Luc Vervoort Nicole Van Nuffel. SECTION C REPORT
The Winner of Section C (23/384) from Cloughmartin was Davy McElhone & Dtr of West End HPS. The Father & Daughter partnership of Davy & Maddie strike winning first and second club (152 Birds) making it a second section C win so far this season winning 1st & 2nd Section (1,319 Birds) these two birds both were in the top 10 of the NIPA Open winning 5th & 7th Open from Benamore (11,678 Birds). Davy & Maddie are delighted with the way the birds performed taking the first two in the section and also having 25 birds in the section result. And also, being 4th Section, 9th Open out of the old bird national. They would like to take the opportunity to thank Mr Wheatcroft for the parents of these birds and good luck to all for next week.

The Winner of Section D (37/650) from Cloughmartin was Aiken Bros of Dromore HPS. Ryan took first place from the final inland race (158 Birds) Winning 1st Section D (650 Birds) and Winning 2nd NIPA Open (3,922 Birds) A super result for Ryan who was also 2nd Open from Benamore 2 earlier in the season now wins another 2nd open finish for the season.
