JOURNEY’S END – NIPA RACE REPORTS – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G

LEECROFT LOFTS FIRST PLACE WITH ‘GRACE’

 We move onto another race week for the NIPA with the miles gradually building up building valuable lessons for the youngbirds. NIPA Members race marked for Fermoy in Co. Cork as planned on Friday the 14^th of August. A total of 358 members of the NIPA sent a total of 8,888 birds to Fermoy. On Saturday morning the 15^th of August the NIPA liberated in Fermoy at 09:15hrs in a light North West wind.

The Winning Bird from the fifth Young Bird Race of the 2026 NIPA Season belongs to John J McCabe of Newry & District HPS in Section G.

 The Newry flyer has added another Open success for 2026 this time being from the youngbirds. The Fermoy 1^st Open winning pigeon has been named ‘Grace’ clocking the winning velocity of 1394.707YPM. GB26 A 25217 is a Luc Vervoort/Lambrecht cross bred down from both parents of Ian Gibb. She was also 21^st Open 3^rd Section G last week from Cloughmartin.

SECTION C REPORT

The Winner of Section C (61/1,318) from Fermoy was A S McNaghten of Larne & District HPS. Alistair had a memorable win from this weekend’s race winning 1^st club Larne (233 birds) making it even sweeter picking up 1^st Section C (1,318 birds) the section winning bird finished up 14^th Open NIPA for Alistair (8,888 birds) GB26 V 60514 is a Blue Wf Hen flying to the perch. Her breeding is from the best of Jeff Greenaway’s x Mr & Mrs McNeillys. He also wins the first cut of the prize money and also won the £20 donation for 1^st. The club knockout winning a £25 meal voucher for Larne masonic club while also winning 1^st and 2^nd share of the 2bird.

Not to be undone from the previous week where he finished a close 2^nd this week Alistair McNaughten went one better by taking the top spot on what was not a great flying day for the young birds, that being said his pigeon motored on to claim 1^st sec C 14^th open NIPA & I have to say super effort all things considered. The young blue w/f hen racing to the perch. Her sire is a good racing red cock from good friend Jeff Greenaway who has now bred him three winners to different hen. The Dam is coming down from his national winner which contains the best of Mr & Mrs McNeillys bloodlines. This wee hen was also 14^th club, 94^th section, 310 open Kilbeggan 2. Just starting to hit form at the right time. Well done big yin.
