NIPA race report by Homer - Corrin & 5Bird Sect A, B, E & H

Corrin was the venue for the next race of the young bird season just over 5,000 birds released and the City of Newry in County Down leading the way on what has been an outstanding season for the local area. J F McCabe & Son from Newry & Dist. were best overall, follows by the best in Ballyholland HPS, Aiden McAteer and Owen Markey who finished 1st Open NIPA in the duplicate 5 Bird Championship.

Congratulations to J. F McCabe & Son on winning the open from Corrin. The winner was bred by Wayne Doonan of Cock Crow breeding Lofts. the sire is Wayne’s no.1stock Kittle’s Double having now bred 4x1st Opens. The dam is a Liederman hen, a g/dtr of the famous Crack 19.this cock has previously won 4th Open earlier on in the season

I just thought I would put a wee picture of my first ever Section winner, and to also thank the two fanciers of the parents, Gerard Delaney (Sire) Oroory Hillstud, and Davy Booth, (Dam). It was always a goal of mine to win the section, but where I live in the North-west, we have a lot of great fanciers, so it was very difficult task, as you all know Davy Booth is probably ranked among the best in Ireland, so to get in front of him is very difficult. But yesterday I managed to pip Davy to the top spot, with what I would say, was a fairly decent velocity here into the Northwest 1129.765ypm. A big shout out to all my club mates for all the congratulations messages. Paul Walters.

Mid Antrim Combine - NIPA Corrin & Corrin 5 Bird 22/08/26 –

The young bird season continued with the Corrin and Corrin 5 Bird races on Saturday 22nd August. The birds were liberated in County Cork at 9.00am in north north -westerly winds and the race like the previous week again turned out pretty tough. The popular Ballymena & District fancier Bertie Blair timed a flyer into the Ballymena town to win by 11 clear minutes and also won 1st in the Mid Antrim Combine by 6 minutes. Bertie timed at 13.49pm flying almost 208 miles to his Chichester Park lofts. The winning red cock was also the first to the loft last week from Fermoy. The sticker Doncker granddam on the sire's side was on loan a couple of seasons ago from Anthony McNeill of Randalstown. The sticker Doncker dam was purchased from D C & P McArdle of Armagh and is a full sister to their Nipa Skibbereen young bird National winner of 2021.this hen also bred Bertie a Combine winner from Dunmanway YB National in 2024.

the Cullybackey winner Gary Gibson had the next two birds in the Combine timing at 13.54pm. Gary's first bird is off a son his Golden Couple and a Leo Heremans hen from Derek Parr being a daughter of his No1 hen. Second bird timed was off another son of the Golden Couple and his granddaughter of Venus kbdb national ace of Stefan Lambrecht.

Joshua Whyte topped Ahoghill and finished 4th Combine followed by the Kells & District winner Johnny Barkley for 5th Combine. The sire of Johnny's winner was Emiel Dillen from Jason bones and the dam is a daughter of 'Samuel James' which won 1st Open Penzance for L O'Neill of Larne.

Other winners included Marc Neilly in Broughshane. The sire Van Den Brande from Bertie Blair and dam was bought at N Ferguson bereavement sale and has D Parr's Mr & Mrs kingpin lines.

The duplicated 5 bird event was won by young Joshua Whyte of Ahoghill who timed his blue cock at 13.58pm flying 207 miles to win 1st Mid Antrim Combine on 1222. His winner is a grandson of his dad Trevor's 1st NIPA Open winner a few years back and the dam was bred by Gary Gibson. All seven club winners made the Combine top twenty in the event.
