Young Jack Bourke of Stretton gets a clear winner to take 1^st fed out of Marlborough (1).

Saturday August 1^st saw 35 members from 5 clubs send 824 birds to the first Marlborough young bird race. Birdage was down this week due to the dreaded young bird sickness hitting a lot of lofts in the area.

It was another lovely day for the birds with blue skies and a gentle West North West wind, Alys cut the strings and the birds were away at 09-05.

Huge congratulations to 13 year old Jack Bourke racing in Stretton, he claims his first ever Federation win on 1587 with the same Blue pied Wijnant x Pitbull Hen that was 2^nd club the week previous out of Cheltenham.

Her sire is a Kris Wijnant; a son off the Gordon Bros “Champ” x “Golden Eggs” purchased from Davis, Wright & Sons. Her dam is”Blauwe Pitbull” from Adam & Mick O’Hara of Liverpool. This hen was 84 seconds clear of the chasing Holbrook pack, well done Jack a great performance and winner.

Holbrook lads had em bombing in; their top 24 was covered by less than 30 seconds, but just not quick enough to top the fed.

Glyn Stone and his Mum Glenda had a great race; they took 2^nd; 3^rd; 4^th; 5th; and 8^th fed on 1567; 1566.8(2); 1566.2 and 1564. First over the pad was a Hereman Cuester x John Bellerby Blue wf cock, nest mate to last weeks 9^th fed winner. The dam off John Bellerby is a winner of 3 x 1^st on the road and now breeding winners too, a cracking hen. The next four over the pads were all out of stock from P & D Stud, a Dark cheq hen; a red cock; a blue cock and a mealy cock. The dam of the one taking 5^th fed; the blue cock; is their good hen “46”; she’s a multiple prize winner, including a 1^st fed and she’s also grand dam to another fed winner.

Mr & Mrs Pettipier were 6^th & 7^th fed on 1565.4; 1565.2, with two Mealy Jos Cools x Van Den Bulck from Louella out of a kit of six, these two are actually nest mates.

Rob Pearson continues his fine start to the young bird season, taking 9^th & 10^th fed on 1563.6; 1563.4; the first; a blue cock; is out of the top Kev Lawson Hereman and Lambrecht stock, he was followed by the good cheq hen bred by Alan Dungworth of Mexborough Rotherham from Dave Thrall of Yorkshire via Excelsior lofts. She’s a blend of Hereman Cuester from Curtis, Wall & Lunt; Brian Johnson; Premier Stud; then out crossed with the Mark Jansenne, Raf Claes and “Pink Eyes”; she has also won 2^nd fed Cheltenham (1) & 6^th fed Cheltenham (2) the two weeks previous.

At Stretton, 7 sent 130 and you all know about Jack Bourke’s fed topper on 1587.

Runner up was Jack’s dad Phil on 1538 with a cheq hen bred by Mark Evans of Denbighshire. Her sire is a Willy Jacobs from Gerald Delaney of Ireland out of “Home Alone” a winner of 1^st sec 3^rd open and “Golden Lady” 1^st open Gold ring and dam of 3 x open winners. Her dam is from Central lofts, a double granddaughter of “Sunny”.

Jack Bourke was back to take 3^rd club on1531 with a cheq wf hen, her sire is a Cattrysse from A & L Painter, and her dam is “111” a winner of 4 x 1^st , she’s a daughter of “Mo’s Bro” a winner of 6 x 1^st.

Phil Whetton was 4^th on 1506 with a blue wf hen off Steve Bennett Vandenabeele x Lambrecht stock.

Into Derby, at Chaddesden Jubilee, where 11 sent 167 and a big well done to John & Steve Hicks on taking 1^st & 3^rd club on 1531.6; 1528; both cheq Jansenne hens.

A whisker away in runners up spot were Mick Willis & Family on 1531.3 with a cheq cock off stock from John Angwin of Cornwall, I know he houses some very good Heremans and Van den Bulcks.

David Coote was 4^th on 1516 with a blue Hereman Cuester hen.

Up at Holbrook, there was a great birdage, 8 sent 362 and they had a great race, with their top 9 all appearing in the fed top ten report above, they had 19 birds in the fed top 20; and 24 in the top 25.

At Etwall, 4 sent 56 and Alan Peach took the top four; the winner on 1555 was bred off a breeder buyer off Russ Bailey paired to a futurity bird from Dixon & Son of Wearside. Runner up on 1497 was the nest mate of the winner. 3rd on 1433 was bred by Russ Bailey and 4^th on 1433 was a Roland Jansenne.

Finally, at Winshill, 5 sent 109 and Mr & Mrs Lee Clamp & Sons took the first three on 1501; 1500; 1497; the winner a blue pied hen; followed by a blue hen and a dark cock.
